Position: Software Engineer for a Web Application

 

The Xerox Research Centre Europe is looking for an experienced software engineer capable of contributing to the development of an innovative web 2.0 application.

This person will be in charge of developing, testing and integrating components for an innovative web 2.0 application, where we will demonstrate, combine and evaluate the outcome of our research. He/she will be a dynamic team player, capable of working with both engineers and researchers in an international setting.

Candidates have the following competencies:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Solid experience in OO languages (Java and/or C++/C#), and web technologies including Ruby on Rails, PHP, JavaScript, XML, etc
  • Track of record in software design and development, specially for project involving web interfaces and web services technologies
  • Record of technology evaluation, benchmark comparisons and fine-tuning algorithm parameters.
  • Good knowledge in database-enabled applications and related web technologies (e.g. Hibernate)
  • Knowledge of user interface design, including experience with Flash and related technologies
  • Technical knowledge of the major operating systems (Unix, Windows).
  • Good knowledge of Quality Assurance and Configuration Management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French is a plus

Experience/diploma required: advanced degree in computer science One year contract
