Position: Advanced Web designer


The Xerox Research Centre Europe is looking for a web designer to boost the development of an innovative web 2.0 application. He/she will be in charge of specifying, designing and developing some user interfaces. The job also includes the development of some of the software behind those interfaces.

Using his/her experience in web application design and implementation, this person will contribute to requirements collection and analysis, translating them in design and specification, and implementing them with the team. Using an agile programming methodology, specification and design phases will be integrated within short development cycles. The candidate will be a dynamic team player, capable of working with both engineers and researchers in an international setting.

Candidates should have the following competencies:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field, with at least 2 years of experience in design, implementation and delivery on time.
  • A strong experience in design of web application and other GUI, including good knowledge of Flash, Action Script 3 and related technologies
  • Some experience in OO languages (Java and/or C++/C#), and web technologies (PHP, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, XML, etc)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French is a plus
  • Some knowledge in database-enabled applications and related web technologies would be a plus.

Experience/diploma required: advanced degree in computer science, one year contract
