Position: PostDoc research positions in the Document Structure area

 

Three positions are open in the area of XML and document structure:

Positions for PhDs student are within EU and national projects with strong international cooperation and a focus on advanced research in multi-facet document engineering, XML schema management, web technologies and semantic analysis using symbolic and machine learning methods. Our solutions revolve around service-oriented architectures (SOA) using advanced web technologies (Web 2.0) and define a new space in “Next Generation Document Applications”.

Because of its intrinsic openness and flexibility, it calls for new and innovative solutions in document analysis, understanding and annotation at different layers including web mashups and application platforms.


Requirements

Positions require an excellent diploma in a relevant subject (or equivalent, e.g. MSc.) and a Ph.D. with successful international publications, respectively. Good background in statistical machine learning and XML schema mechanisms would be an advantage. This position provides a rewarding research experience in an international, cooperation-oriented team working with real data and applications. The Ph.D. student position requires an MSc. in relevant computer science domains, the applicant will have to demonstrate his knowledge of XML tools and good skills in statistics and machine learning.

Xerox Research Centre Europe (XRCE)

The Xerox Research Centre Europe is a young, dynamic research organization, which aims at creating innovative document technologies to support growth in Xerox content and document management services. XRCE is part of the Xerox Innovation group made up of 550 researchers and engineers in four world-renowned research and technology centers. Our domains of research stretch from the social sciences to computing. We have renowned expertise in natural language applications, document analysis and processing, work practice studies, distributed applications and knowledge management agents. The Grenoble site is set in a park in the heart of the French Alps in a stunning location only a few kilometres from the city centre. The city of Grenoble has a large scientific community made up of national research institutes (CNRS, Universities, INRIA) and hi-tech industries. Grenoble is close to both the Swiss and Italian borders and is the ideal place for skiing, climbing, hang gliding and all types of mountain sports.
