Position: IT Project Leader for Image Categorization
Web Service
Xerox is looking for an experienced software engineer
for the development of an innovative web service in the area of automatic
image categorization. The work location will be Xerox Research Centre
Europe near Grenoble, France.
This person will be in charge of a project that consists of applying
advanced R&D software tools (in computer vision & machine
learning) to very large volumes of image data to "train"
and evaluate an image categorization web service. He/she will be a
dynamic team player, capable of working with both engineers, researchers
and business developers in an international setting, and participating
in the commercial launch of a new web service offering. He/she will
interface with contractors (a system integrator with renowned competence
in Amazon Web Services, and possibly another contractor at a remote
location) and possibly supervising some interns.
Candidates should have the following competencies:
- Experience in evaluating/benchmarking technologies and fine-tuning
algorithm parameters
- Good knowledge of OO languages (Java and/or C++/C#) and web technologies
- Track record in software design and development, if possible with
project involving web services and cloud computing technologies
- Good knowledge in database-enabled applications and related web
technologies
- Technical knowledge of the major operating systems (Unix, Windows)
- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interface with contractors and supervise a small team
of interns
- Ability to work with system and network architects and to contribute
to hardware purchasing decisions
- Fluent in English, knowledge of French is a plus
Experience/diploma required: advanced degree in computer science
