Advanced Development Lab

The Advanced Development Lab department takes research results from XRCE's laboratory and the wider Xerox research community, and engineers the technology for transfer to the commercialization process, delivering advanced prototypes and pre-products to Xerox solution and product teams. The department's advanced development activities are the first step in transferring technologies to the market.

The ADL team’s contribution includes the analysis of requirements from Xerox Business Units or other early customers, validation of the research technologies so that meet scalability, reliability and other engineering criteria, and the development of innovative software corresponding to customer requirements.
XRCE technologists work directly with early adopters, feeding their input back to the researchers as they continue to advance the technology. This feedback loop ensures that the resultant product will meet the customer needs of the end users.
ADL has a highly successful track record of transferring technologies to Xerox business groups. Some recent examples include the suite of linguistic tools for authors and translators, the technology underlying Xerox' askOnce meta-search engine, and XeLDA, the Xerox Linguistic Development Architecture.
ADL is a core competency at XRCE and an important contributor to the XRCE Programs in Office Applications, Content and Structure and Work Practice Services.
