Research Scientist

I joined XRCE in July 2002 and I am a member of the Textual & Visual Pattern Analysis group. My main research interest concerns the exploration of new technologies for content and aesthetic analysis, categorization and automatic quality enhancement of images.

Referree for different international journals and conferences:

  • Journals: PAMI, IJCV, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEE Proceedings -- Vision, Image and Signal Processing, Traitement du Signal
  • Conferences: ICCV, ECCV, CVPR, ICIP,CAIP

I am co-organizing the International Workshop on Metadata Mining for Image Understanding (MMIU) in conjoinction with Visapp 2008.

Short biography:

  • Graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Timisoara, Rumania (1991), she obtained the Master of Robotics and Vision (1992) and her Ph.D. degree (1996) in Computer Science (Science of engineering) from the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis, France. Her PhD thesis prepared within the group Robotvis, at INRIA, Sophia Antipolis studies the possibility of a projective representation of the three-dimensional environment using a pair of views obtained with uncalibrated cameras.

  •
  • She spent two years (1996 - 1998) as a postdoctoral associate within the groups Movi, INRIA Rhône-Alpes and Vista, IRISA Rennes where her research work concerned self-calibration and reconstruction from stereo image sequences and motion analyses of video sequences.

  •
  • Between 1998-1999 she was research and teaching assistant at CUI, University of Geneva, where she was involved in research on watermarking digital images and videos for copyright protection within the Computer Vision Group of the Computer Science Department. She continued research work on watermarking technologies as research engineer within the Image and Video group of the Multimedia Communications Department, at Institut Eurécom (2000-2001)
